Harman, a subsidiary of Samsung, has announced the acquisition of the Roon audio platform. Roon is renowned for its ability to seamlessly play music across multiple devices in various rooms, irrespective of brand differences.

Harman, a global player in the audio electronics industry, boasts ownership of well-known brands like AKG, dbx, JBL, and Soundcraft. Under Samsung’s ownership since 2017, Harman has integrated its expertise into Samsung headphones and smartphones, enriching the tech giant’s audio capabilities.

Dave Rogers, President of the Lifestyle Division at Harman, emphasized that the acquisition aligns with the company’s commitment to “create exceptional sound quality” for partners and consumers worldwide. Enno Vandermeer, CEO of Roon, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the potential for Roon to leverage the scale, resources, and global reach offered by a technology leader like Harman.

Despite the acquisition, the Roon brand will maintain its independence, allowing it to focus on continued growth and innovation in the audio sector.
