IBM has announced its acquisition of Software AG’s enterprise integration platforms for a substantial €2.13 billion. This landmark deal encompasses Software AG’s StreamSets and webMethods platforms, integral components of the Super Ipaas business unveiled by Software AG in October.

The acquired platforms play a pivotal role in application integration, application programming interface (API) management, and data integration, augmenting IBM’s prowess in delivering comprehensive enterprise solutions. The move reflects IBM’s commitment to advancing its hybrid cloud and AI offerings.

Christian Lucas, head of the supervisory board of Software AG, emphasized the exceptional opportunity created by bringing together the talented teams behind StreamSets and webMethods with IBM. This collaboration aims to propel innovation in shaping the future of hybrid cloud and AI solutions tailored for enterprises.

The transaction, valued at €2.13 billion, is contingent on regulatory approvals and is anticipated to conclude in the second quarter of 2024. The majority stakeholder in Software AG, private equity firm Silver Lake, currently holds a 93.3% stake in the German software company. As industries navigate the evolving landscape of AI and hybrid cloud solutions, IBM’s strategic acquisition positions it at the forefront of driving transformative innovation in enterprise technology.
